Dating old photographs

I was was very warmly welcomed back to Rudgewick Family History group where I gave a talk about Dating old photographs last evening. They are a very friendly bunch.

I plan to give the talk again to the Wonersh U3A group on 27 February

Concerned over our Australian friends

I was feeling very sorry for myself with all this white stuff we were experiencing. Although it looks lovely I am not good at walking in it once it goes hard. The supermarket shelves are quite empty, everyone is going mad. Hopefully the white spell is over.

Now I worry about our genealogical friends (and indeed everyone) in Australia who are experiencing the ridiculously high temperaures and fires.

Wills from New Zealand

A fellow GoON who lives in New Zealand offered to do some research for me in New Zealand. She had already sent me BMD records which helped fill in some holes for me and only gave me one entry that I cannot find. But we will get there. Now today she sent me seven wills or administraion papers. The details will be on the webiste on the next update. Many thanks Bernadette

Violet Greathead

I gathered four Violet Greatheads from the 1911 census. I can trace three of them but just who is the Violet Greathead aged 12 born in Birmingham and living with John Oswald and Annie Marie Brandreth and their son Bernard Oswald Brandreth. Violet is described as a cousin.

I have researched the Bandreth family and the Lane family, Annie Marie's maden name was Lane but cannot discover how Violet could be a cousin.

My very kind friend Teresa even sent me the census sheet to see if that gave the answer, but sadly no
