Penhillvale - Greathead home
I contacted Germaine the daughter of John and Julia Greathead who informs me that Penhillvale, the original Greathead home is in Elliott Heads Road (previously named Barolin Road) and is on the left hand side of the road, coming from the town, and about 1/4 mile before the Woongarra State School. It used to have an avenue of Bunya Pine trees but she is not sure if they are still there. The house was quite a distance back from the main road. She lived in a house that was about 1/4 mile closer to town but on the same side of the road. She think that it has been demolished and the whole area is now under sugar cane. The Hummock was always described as "the only hill in Bundaberg." The view from there is really beautiful. She remembers when the Hummock was bought by an Estate Agent, a Mr. Heathwood and people thought that he was crazy when he suggested building homes on it. It is now one of the most popular sites in the area. Thank your Germaine
