The National Archives

Busy month this one and it started with a visit to TNA with my friend Rita. Driving there gave us ample time to catch up on news, so after a swift coffee I was off to see the records I had pre-ordered. I had ordered six items but only two were in my cupboard. The other four were subject to restricted access and they had photocopied the papers for me covering up the restricted bits. Fabulous.

I photographed the will of Lady Mary Greathead the Company papers of a company called Scattergood and Greathead but are no further finding where the Greathead connection comes from? They were jewellers and certainly I had Greathead jewellers in that are at that time. Did we perhaps put up the money? Lots to find out.

Also the marriage record of Joseph Greathead to Eliza Waghorn

Then I looked up railway accidents and found Henry Greathead a good guard being injured on 5 January 1906 at Stockton.

Lastly I looked up the record of the resignation of railway clerk Astle Greathead

A splendid days research
