Website updated - 1 July 2013

This update includes lots of Pennsylvania and Manchester updated records.  Charts 8 and 28 have also been updated.

Find my past included some new Lincolnshire parish records.  I have added some Lincolnshire burials.

Following an email regarding Lauretta Greathead also known as Lauretta Groskop.  A TV programme stated that Lauretta married Robert Groskop and was the grandmother of a previous Blue Peter presenter.  I have proved the link, but it would seem that Lauretta maybe the niece of Robert.  Maybe however she was adopted and on official records kept the name of Greathead.  Anyone know anything different!!!!

Hannah Greatheads grandaughters

I received three Emails from Stewart and they contained eight wonderful photographs, including Hannah's grandchildren Hilda, Beatrice and Harry

He also told me of the sad story of two more children for Richard Bielby and Clara - Hannah's daughter. On 29 January 1886 they had twin girls. One was stillborn and the other died after eight hours. They were buried together the next day.

Thanks Stewart, do keep in touch

Clara and Pauline daughters of Hannah Greathead

I have just received some magnificent pictures of Clara and Pauline, two of Hannah Greathead's daughters. Pauline, known all her live as "Pleen" amazingly did not need glasses to read. She was a former pub landlady of the Star Inn at Sancton who never touched alcohol and insisted on going to the polls at an election, refusing to vote by post. She appeared in the Hull Daily Mail in 1976 when she celebrated her 100th birthday, a musical trio sang especially for her. Two years later she again appeared in the same paper when she celebrated her 102nd birthday. It reported that residents where she lived enjoyed a party in her honour, the cook baked a special cake and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers to which she apparently whispered "Beautiful" I have added the pictures of Pauline and Clara to my database and they will appear with more information in the narratives when the website is updated on 31 October. I was also sent this fantastic picture of the pair of them together in 1928. Thank you so much Stewart

George William Greathead

Pauline was on holiday in Yorkshire and visiting South Dalton churchyard and spotted two gravestones for one family. They were of George William, his wife Vera and their son Charles William who sadly died aged 19 years in a car accident. How very kind to remember me. Thanks Pauline
