Website updated 31 December 2008

Happy New year to everyone. Maybe this year we will discover more relationships and link more twigs and branches

Find my past website gave us access to their beta version of the UK 1911 census for a short while over the Christmas holidays. Only 26 counties were available. I did not pay any money to view the original sheets but with a little "Miss Marpling" I have made some hopefully educated guesses with the information and added it to the website.

I have been sent some great photographs this month of relations, and Greathead named places.

Divorce details collected from TNA and many other details from friends and a bit of sleuthing

All added to website with thanks

1911 UK census

We have been given a peep into the 1911 UK census on a website. Being rather skint at the moment I did not buy any credits to see either the transcriptions or the original pages.

I did however gather the data offered free and where possible linked it to people on the website. Not all Counties were available so I found 119 Greatheads, 7 Greatheds, 1 Greatheeds, 4 Greateds and 10 Greetheads.

I also discovered 11 Banthorp(e)s and 146 Tunleys and pretty sure Charlotte Maria Greethead married James Stringer as I found them on the census in Lewisham

Thanks for letting us see and test the site early. I look forward to seeing it for real later in the year

Guild of One Name Studies (GoONS)

I have belonged to the GoONS, an excellent organisation for a while now and it is with them that my One Name study is registered.

They have many activities and I do attend some of them. Being a world-wide organisation their activities are spread far and wide although most are in the UK.

After many refusals I have now agreed to take on the role of the Surrey and West London representative, which at the moment includes 160 members. Quite a task, although like everything else I do I will give it my best shot. I sent out an introductory Email and letter (to those without Email) today and hope to compose a questionnaire to ascertain what members want. I do not intend "copying" what local FHS have on offer, they do an excellent job. We shall see................
