Probate Office finds

Today I met a friend in London as we were going to go on the London Da Vinci Code Walk. This did not commence until 2pm so we stopped off first at the Probate Office and were staggered at the new security measures.

Eventually we got into the research room and I took down details of the latest Greathead wills and hope I have placed most of this information on the database.

The website will be updated tomorrow. A day late I know but went out last evening, sorry

The walk was by the way fantastic and I can thoroughly recommend it

Nicholson interests

Went to hear an excellent talk by Canon Nigel Nicholson today in Cranleigh. I agreed to pass the information on Nicholsons that were in my study. Maybe we can share information. I am hoping he may be able to identify a young lady that I found in 1871 census Dorothy Nicholson Greathead staying with her grandparents, but who were her parents?

Website updated 31 March 2009

Durham and Yorkshire 1911 census information added where I can, still not paid, although a very dear friend did send me a copy of one which I was very interested in.

Having searched for children with a mother whose maiden name was Greathead on Ancestry.com I have added some of this information to my personal database. If the children are alive, only their names will appear as living (hopefully)

John Spurr Lamb ran out on his wife and two children, married a lady who travelled on the same ship to Australia and started a new family. He was my 2nd great great uncle. Out of the blue my 4th cousin Greg contacted me and has filled in many "holes" and brought me up to date with this branch of the family.

I have started to include pages by occupation, giving some names and details

Chart 5 has been corrected

Many other changes from the many contacts with whom I have communicated this month, many thanks
