Margaret Greathead

The Great grandaughter of Margaret Greathead contacted me and has been giving me so much information. I am attempting to verify dates with GRO indexes and census records as we go along. But she is also giving me precious family stories, which I could never gain through records. Margaret's family is certainy coming alive. The August update will have most of the information. I do not have sufficient time before the July update. Marian you are a star, thank you

Visit to London Family History Centre in London

Spent today at the London Family History Centre in London today collecting FREE electronic copies of the best part of half of the Greathead entries in the 1911 census and brought them home on my flash memory stick. I now have a great deal of work to do to put the data on my database and must organise another visit soon to get the rest.

Reigate ONS meeting

Tonight I met up with a group of GoONS from the Reigate area and we discussed our ONS. What a fascinating group of people, so much experience in one room, many collecting and storing data in different ways, some using Shop bought FH programs, others bespoke programs designed by themselves and others using paper and/or card indexes.

We have decided we would like to meet again in 3 months time and perhaps communicate in the between time by Email. We have much to learn from each other

Thanks to all who attended to make it a successful evening and hopefully those who could not make it but expressed and interest may make the next in late October

Picture of Great Aunt

I was delighted to receive a picture of my Great Aunt, Marjorie Banthorp today. Thanks Jackie

Death in Oz

Whilst over on a visit Scott and I met for a beer in my local pub. We chatted for hours until we were thrown out. He is now back home in Oz and sent me an entry from the Brisbane paper Courier Mail date Thursday July 16.

Funeral Notice:
Esther May GREATHEAD completed her journey 11th July 2009. aged 88yrs.
wife of Douglas (not noted as deceased) Mother and Mother-in-Law to Greville, Derek and Sharon. She was cremated on Friday 17th July.

Isn't it always the way. I have a Douglas Arthur but his wife was listed as Juanitta Estelle,is this the same lady?

Anyone any ideas please? Thanks Scott
