West London ONS
Today met up with nine other GoONS in Hammersmith for a great meeting. The main subject was Marine History as our delightful hostess was an expert on the subject. She very kindly talked us through some handouts she had prepared, took questions and sent back the answers in what seemed like minutes after we left her house.
As always happens when GoONS get together we talk, swapping websites, ways of saving data, experiences etc. I had in the end, sadly to call the meeting to a close as we had homes to get back to. The time went so fast and our heads were buzzing.
We all agreed to meet up again in the new year. Thanks for Lauretta and all the group

London Baptisms and Births
Strange. If I attempt to retrieve the London baptisms and births through the London Historical link on Ancestry I receive no data for any surname what so ever. I was not too peturbed to begin with as Ancestry had said that the entries were not all indexed and I had enough marriages and burials to keep me going for a while.
Then people on the GOONS mailing list kept saying how many they had found for their ONS. When I couldn't find theirs either I just did a complete search and guess what I now have 67 Greathead and variants to play with. Whoopee. Still don't understand what I was doing wrong but I got them in the end. Persistance eh!

Marriage challenge
Received five details of marriages from the Solihull marriage challenge. Thanks Karen. Apart from supplying exact details of the marriages they corrected a brides surname and also I have added another child to a Greathead family. Watch out for these Solihull marriages on the next website update

Historic London Parish Records
Having just had a quick search on Ancestry London Historical Parish Registers I have discovered 147 marriages/banns and 47 deaths/burials for our Greatheads and variants. Strangely no births/baptisms are appearing at the moment on the index. Data will be added as soon as I can. Hopefully for the next website update at the end of the month
